Part V — Moirai Games

The cryptic words dissolved with a swipe of his hand as streaks of light replaced each letter. A left-to-right motion and two seconds brought an emptiness he welcomed. Two years’ worth of data, wrong. Corbin had it correct this time.

He spent the last 34 hours finally piecing the facts together and creating a code worth trying. Lack of sleep pulled at the delicate skin below his eyes like an anchor on a vessel. Questioning the code was no longer a factor, delivery was the problem. With a finger, he transferred the painstaking notes from…

One writer’s failed journey to discovery, resulted in positive self-reflection

Inspiration? Check the lost and found. Overwhelmed, frustrated, and confused. Three little words that describe a writing journey from 2016 to 2020. When I first started publishing my writing for the world to see it scared me, but my heart was a bright beacon. Fearful of what others might think, may say, or not say, I refused to let fear seclude me. The new writer, a nobody, a small minnow, and a newbie. An inspired writer staring at the keyboard, anxious to greet the noisy world of better writers.

It all begins with a solar wind moving at one million miles per hour

In a world filled with growing technology and intelligent machines, the Sun plays an important part in the success or failure of drone flight. Solar wind or particle radiation continuously affect all electronics on a near-daily basis, especially high precision drones using a Geographical Positioning System (GPS). The Kp-index is a necessary factor for flight.

The planetary magnetic index, or Kp-index (K meaning Kennziffer or ‘code number’ in German, and P meaning planetary), has been available for some time now. Thanks to Julius Bartels and his…

Part IV — Moirai Games

The sphere was larger than she expected, at least 12 feet wide and high. Sending a power tone from one glance. Ryn couldn’t remove her eyes from the rotating colors within the sphere; ribbons of purple, green, and blue.

Most humans are familiar with the sphere. Few humans venture to Moirai. The sphere hovered above the ground by a foot; a dancing drop of putrid water. She shut the vehicle door and walked to the front of the facility. Concrete streets melted into solid glass tiles surrounding the grounds. The Moirai appeared to breathe in…

Vibration penetrated the fatty marrow filled cavities within her wrist, waking her from a short sleep. She turned her back against the brown plush sofa. The biker jacket twisted about her shoulders, exaggerating an uncomfortable pinch. Dari rubbed her left eye, trying to gain focus on the ExPose. Six o’clock. She attempted to wake her weak body while stretching a foot over the opposite end of the sofa.

“Today is the anniversary,” said Mila. Her long brown locks kissed Dari’s face.

“Today is the day he left.”

“Why are you telling me this?”

A fictional short story

Shards of glass could not help me. The broken mirror filled the bathroom sink. A single stone perched upon the glistening pile. I’m confused and irritated. Waking to the sound of broken glass did not make for a good start. I stomped to the kitchen, throwing myself on the bar stool. Eleven. Eleven items were all I needed. A small addition to my pathetic life. The grocery list of a solid eleven only deepened this reality. Most days, I found comfort buried in my studies. With a sigh, I tucked the list in the back pocket…

Real camping awaits

Outdoor enthusiasts, if you haven’t already, give primitive camping a try. Camping can mean different things, but here is what true primitive camping (or sometimes called dispersed) is not. True primitive camping is not glamping (glamorous camping with amenities), it’s not having access to facilities, and it’s not getting to know the friendly neighbors that are camping 25 feet away. It’s quiet, it lacks secured entry, and it requires self sufficiency. A true primitive camping experience is immersing yourself in nature and nothing else. There are different methods of primitive camping to consider; using a vehicle or hiking in. One…
